Your browser isn't quite dressed for Casual Friday.

Things may look a little odd. A current browser will fix that.

Accessibility statement / Barrierefreiheitserklärung

A short foreword

Good drinks are for everyone – and so is this website. Whether you use a mouse, a keyboard, a screen reader, magnification or an old phone: you should be able to find, read and mix every recipe.

That's why I rebuilt Casual Friday Club from scratch, with accessibility as a requirement rather than an afterthought. It isn't perfect yet. If something gets in your way, please tell me – that helps me more than any automated test.

Scope

This statement applies to casualfriday.club, including the magazine at casualfriday.club/magazine.

Goal

This website aims to meet conformance level AA of the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2.

As a microenterprise, I am most likely not legally required to do so under the German Accessibility Strengthening Act (Barrierefreiheitsstärkungsgesetz, BFSG). I do it anyway, because it's the right thing to do. This statement is therefore voluntary.

What I do

  • Clear structure: proper headings, landmarks and lists, so screen readers and keyboards can move through the pages easily.
  • Keyboard: everything works without a mouse, the focus is always visible, and a link takes you straight to the content.
  • Contrast and display: the colours meet the contrast requirements in both the light and the dark design. The website follows your device settings and also works with forced colours (e.g. Windows contrast themes).
  • Text and zoom: text can be enlarged to 200 % without losing content. The pages work from 320 pixels wide without horizontal scrolling.
  • Motion: if you have set "reduce motion" on your system, the website does without animations.
  • Images: images that carry content have alternative text; purely decorative images are skipped by screen readers.
  • Filters and search: the recipe filters and the search also work without JavaScript.
  • No embeds: videos, maps or social media content are not embedded but linked.
  • Testing: every page type is checked regularly with automated tests (axe) at several widths and in both designs, plus spot checks by hand with a keyboard and a screen reader.

Compliance status

Based on my own assessment, this website is partially compliant with WCAG 2.2 AA. It has not been audited by an external body.

Known limitations

  • Sign-up window for the newsletter and membership: it comes from the magazine software Ghost. I can only adapt it to a limited extent; focus handling and labels may not meet WCAG 2.2 AA in every respect. Alternative: just send me an email and I'll sign you up.
  • Older content: recipes and articles carried over from the old website may have missing or inaccurate alternative text. I'm revising them step by step. If you need a description of an image, write to me.
  • Videos: my videos are on YouTube. Subtitles there partly rely on automatic speech recognition. Every recipe is also available in full as text on this website.
  • External sites: I am not responsible for linked sites such as Amazon, YouTube or partners.

How this statement was prepared

This statement was prepared on 16 October 2026 and is based on a self-assessment. I review it whenever the website changes significantly, and at least once a year.

Kleines Vorwort

Was ich dafür tue
